This Bonnie Brae home had three bathrooms for us to design, each with a different goal, plus a laundry room. Every one of them was a refresh. We kept everything where it was and used the same cabinets.

The guest bath called for a bohemian look with nods to terracotta and warm tones. It also had to feel welcoming to anyone who uses it, of any age and any gender. We laid terracotta hex tile on the floor, ran clay-toned tile up the shower, and hung an oval mirror over the cream vanity.

The boys share the second bath, and it went blue, with masculine tones and graphic elements. A band of cobalt wraps the room above a navy double vanity, and the shower's blue tile is set off by a crisp white grid.

The girl's bath is strictly feminine, done in brass and pink. Pink scallop tile covers the walls, a wavy mirror hangs over the sink, and the fixtures are all brass.

We gave each room its own personality, but none of them is built for one age. The kids can grow into these baths from toddler to teenager without the rooms ever feeling dated.

We refreshed the laundry room the same way and carried the graphic feel of the baths into it, with a bold green and white patterned floor under a pale green backsplash.
